Kumquat Ade/Tea (GF+Vegan)

This kumquat ade and tea is super refreshing and healthy even during the colder seasons. Besides who doesn't love this perfect pop of color?!

  • 4 tbsp baking soda
  • 2 cup kumquat
  • lime
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp rock sugar


  • Wash the lime and kumquat with baking soda and water. Drain and pat dry.
  • Cut the kumquat in half and remove the seeds. Slice the lime and remove the seeds as well.
  • In a bowl, combine the kumquat and lime slices with sugar and rest for 30 minutes.
  • In a pan, heat the fruit and sugar mixture in the pan and stir in rock sugar and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir often to prevent sugar burning.
  • Stir in 1 cup of water and cook for another addition 10 minutes or until syrupy.
  • Place into a sterilized jar and let it cool. Place in fridge until ready to use.
  • To make a kumquat ade, place some syrup and fruit in a cup with ice and top with regular water or sparkling water. Stir and enjoy!
  • To make a kumquat tea, place some syrup and fruit in a cup and top with boiling water. Stir and enjoy!
